Dates and Scope
The Festival Internacional de Artes Vivas (FIAV) Bogotá 2026 officially opens on March 27, World Theatre Day, and will run until April 5, 2026. The event will feature more than 100 productions staged in 20 theaters and public spaces across the Colombian capital. In addition, the festival’s Circuitos Vivos program will take 12 selected shows to 15 cities nationwide, expanding its reach beyond Bogotá.
International Lineup
The opening day showcases works from China, New Zealand, Mexico, Argentina, and Canada, with additional performances from Ireland and Rwanda included in the touring program. Highlights include:
“The Flow” – a contemporary circus piece by Lau Yee (China).
“Henri Michaux: Movements and 24 Preludes by Chopin” – Compagnie Marie Chouinard (Canada).
“Baco Polaco” – Teatro San Martín, directed by Mauricio Kartun (Argentina).
“Casting Lear” – Andrea Jiménez, Teatro Español (Spain).
“Viaje al Amor Brujo” – Ballet Español de la Comunidad de Madrid.
Colombian Talent
The festival also highlights 39 productions from Bogotá and other Colombian cities, including Cali, Santa Marta, Tumaco, Cartagena, Pereira, and Medellín. These works were selected through a public call and span genres such as text-based theatre, puppetry, dance, clowning, and circus arts. Three large-scale premieres are being produced directly by the Bogotá Secretariat of Culture, Recreation, and Sport.
Organization and Partners
FIAV Bogotá is organized by the Ministry of Cultures, Arts, and Knowledge and the Mayor’s Office of Bogotá, through the Secretariat of Culture, Recreation, and Sport, with support from affiliated institutions and the Bogotá Chamber of Commerce. Cocrea joins as a strategic partner to strengthen cultural financing and circulation.
