Colombia and Spain Strengthen Strategic Ties at the "Spain-Colombia 2025" Forum


Bogotá, April 28, 2025 – In a global context marked by uncertainty, business and government leaders from Colombia and Spain gathered today in Bogotá to inaugurate the forum "Spain-Colombia 2025: Shared Strategies for a Future of Opportunities." This event, organized by the Fundación Consejo España-Colombia and the Bogotá Chamber of Commerce (CCB), aims to strengthen bilateral relations and explore new opportunities for cooperation.

During the opening, Trinidad Jiménez, President of the Fundación Consejo España-Colombia and former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Spain, emphasized the importance of public-private collaboration in a constantly changing world. "This forum is an expression of shared values and mutual trust. It is essential to seize moments of crisis and turn them into opportunities," she stated.

Meanwhile, Patricia Cortés, Director of European Affairs at Colombia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, highlighted the significance of these meetings for building bridges between the two nations. "We share values such as democracy, respect for human rights, and multilateralism, which form the foundation of our historic relationship," she noted.

The Spanish Ambassador to Colombia, Santiago Jiménez, also stressed the importance of strengthening alliances in today’s global landscape. "It is more necessary than ever to reinforce the bonds that unite us," he declared.

The forum addressed key topics such as business sustainability, the role of technology and innovation, and opportunities for interregional cooperation. Ovidio Claros, Executive President of the CCB, highlighted the synergy among the participants:

This event reflects the collaboration between governments, entrepreneurs, and the Chamber of Commerce, creating a unique space for dialogue and joint projection."

Expectations are high, with participants optimistic about the positive impact this forum will have on bilateral relations and the economic development of both nations. This event marks a significant step toward a future of shared opportunities between Colombia and Spain.
