Elon Musk launched a scathing attack on Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez on Tuesday, branding him a “tyrant” and mocking him with the derogatory nickname “Dirty Sánchez.” The remarks came in response to Sánchez’s newly announced measures to restrict minors under 16 from accessing social media and to tighten regulations on digital platforms.

In a post on X, Musk wrote: “Dirty Sánchez is a tyrant and a traitor to the Spanish people.” He shared a video of Sánchez’s speech at the World Government Summit in Dubai, where the Spanish leader unveiled the new policies. During his address, Sánchez also criticized Musk’s artificial intelligence project, Grok, accusing it of generating “illegal sexual content.”

Musk’s insults, which employ a term widely recognized as a crude and offensive reference, coincided with Sánchez’s pledge to hold tech executives accountable for violations on their platforms. The Spanish government’s initiative marks one of the most aggressive attempts in Europe to curb the influence of social media on young users.

The controversy comes amid mounting scrutiny of Musk’s companies in Europe. Just last week, the European Commission announced an investigation into X over allegations that Grok had produced sexualized images and non-consensual nudity. Regulators will examine whether the platform is complying with the EU’s strict digital laws.

In December, Brussels fined X €120 million for failing to meet transparency obligations, citing deceptive design in its blue verification badge, lack of clarity in its advertising repository, and insufficient access to public data for researchers.

Musk’s latest clash with Sánchez underscores the growing tension between tech giants and European governments, as regulators push for stronger oversight of digital platforms while Silicon Valley leaders accuse them of stifling innovation.
