Historic Day in the U.S.: Millions Protest Trump Amid Military Parade in Washington

New York City, June 14, 2025 — In one of the largest mobilizations in recent years, millions took to the streets in over 2,000 U.S. cities today to participate in the nationwide “No Kings” protests. The movement denounces President Donald Trump’s policies and his lavish military parade in Washington, D.C., held to mark the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Army and Trump’s 79th birthday.

In New York, more than 10,000 demonstrators gathered in Bryant Park and marched down Fifth Avenue carrying signs that read “No Kings” and “Democracy, Not Dictatorship.” The protests remained peaceful with no arrests, according to city officials.

A Unprecedented National Movement

The mobilization was coordinated by the 50501 movement (“50 states, 50 protests, 1 movement”), backed by over 200 organizations including the ACLU and major unions. Demonstrations were held in every U.S. state, from Los Angeles to Chicago, Atlanta, and Philadelphia, drawing millions of participants nationwide.

In cities like Allentown, Pennsylvania, and Lansing, Michigan, crowds exceeded 5,000. In Minneapolis, tens of thousands defied warnings issued after the killing of a Democratic state legislator—an incident under investigation as a political attack.

Military Parade Unfolds in Washington

Meanwhile, in the nation's capital, President Trump presided over a $100 million military parade, featuring tanks, fighter jets, and thousands of troops marching down Pennsylvania Avenue. Activists criticized the display as an “authoritarian spectacle” and a “waste of public funds” at a time when programs like Medicaid and SNAP are facing deep cuts.

When asked about the protests, Trump responded, “I don’t feel like a king. I have to go through hell to get anything approved.”

A Divided, Yet Mobilized Nation

Today’s demonstrations reflect a rising political tension across the U.S., marked by mass immigration raids, military deployments in cities like Los Angeles, and increasingly authoritarian rhetoric from the White House.

Despite the show of force, protesters stood firm in defense of democracy. “We don’t want thrones, crowns, or kings,” said one organizer in Philadelphia. “We want justice, dignity, and freedom for all.”
