Ceremony Highlights
Date & Location: Tuesday, November 25, 2025, in the White House Rose Garden.
The Turkeys: Waddle and Gobble, raised on a farm in North Carolina, were chosen by the National Turkey Federation to star in this year’s National Thanksgiving Turkey Presentation.
Luxury Stay: Before arriving at the White House, the birds were housed at the historic Willard InterContinental Hotel in Washington, D.C., where they received special care and attention.
The Pardon: Accompanied by First Lady Melania Trump, the president granted both turkeys a “full, unconditional pardon,” ensuring they will not end up on anyone’s Thanksgiving table.

The tradition of presenting a turkey to the president dates back to 1947 under President Harry Truman, though the formal pardoning ritual became established decades later.
Every president since has continued the lighthearted ceremony, blending humor with cultural symbolism ahead of America’s most family-centered holiday.
