Trump Threatens to Arrest California Governor Over Los Angeles Protests

Los Angeles, USA – The tension between the Trump administration and the California government has escalated after President Donald Trump stated that he would arrest Governor Gavin Newsom

During a press conference, Trump declared, "If I were Tom Homan, I would do it. Gavin likes publicity," referring to the former ICE director and current immigration policy advisor. He also labeled the protesters as "professional agitators and insurgents" and suggested that "they should be in jail," reinforcing his tough stance on immigration.

Governor Newsom responded defiantly, saying, "Tom, arrest me," referencing remarks from Homan, who had hinted that both Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass could face federal charges for obstructing ICE operations. However, Homan later clarified that there were no plans to arrest the governor, though he warned that the Trump administration "would not tolerate anyone hindering law enforcement."

The White House and California authorities have intensified their conflict following Trump's decision to deploy 2,000 National Guard troops in Los Angeles to contain the protests, a move that local officials strongly opposed. Newsom has condemned the action as "a grave violation of state sovereignty" and announced that he would sue the Trump administration.

Meanwhile, protests continue across the city, with clashes between demonstrators and law enforcement, highway blockades on the 101 Freeway, and the use of tear gas to disperse crowds. Trump has defended his decision, stating that the military deployment "saved Los Angeles from total destruction."

The situation remains fluid, with local authorities calling for calm and growing concerns over the impact of these measures on the migrant community.
