White House Commemorates Patriot Day 2025 with Solemn Presidential Proclamation.
Washington, D.C., September 11, 2025 — On the 24th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, the President of the United States issued an official proclamation from the White House, reaffirming the nation’s unwavering commitment to honoring its fallen heroes and defending its people against any external threat.
“We vow that any enemy who spills American blood will face the full wrath of American justice. And above all, we recommit to honoring the memories, cherishing the legacies, and remembering the stories of our fallen heroes for all eternity,” declared the President in a message that resonated across the country.
The proclamation precisely recalled the events of that tragic Tuesday: at 8:46 a.m., Flight 11 struck the North Tower of the World Trade Center; at 9:03 a.m., Flight 175 hit the South Tower; at 9:37 a.m., Flight 77 crashed into the Pentagon; and finally, Flight 93—thanks to the heroism of its passengers—was diverted and crashed in a field in Pennsylvania, preventing a direct strike on the heart of the nation’s capital.
In total, 2,753 lives were lost in New York, 184 in Arlington, Virginia, and 40 in Pennsylvania. The White House paid tribute to the first responders, firefighters, and officers who risked their lives in rescue efforts, as well as to the survivors who continue to bear the physical and emotional scars of the attacks.
The administration reaffirmed its policy of “peace through strength,” asserting that any attempt to harm the United States would be met with “devastation and overwhelming defeat by the most formidable military on Earth.”
